Highlights

A rejuvenating dip in the hot springs, a delicious meal, and nature’s greatest light show.

This adventure begins on the Hvammsvik Hot Springs. You and your local guide will ride in a luxury Jeep to the Hvammsvik Hot Springs Baths.

After relaxing in the Hot Spring  for a bit, you’ll enjoy a meal at the restaurant and then set out in search of the magical Northern Lights.

Discover the Hvammsvik Hot Springs

Hvammsvík Hot Springs concept was inspired by the Old Hot Spring that has been on the property for decades, as well as rock formations that are seen along the coastline in Hvammsvík. The pools were formed using rocks from the surroundings, in harmony with the nature and wildlife.

The facilities are constructed on original barrack foundations built by allied troops during World War II. Hence we are building on and preserving the rich history of the site.

The Hvammsvík Hot Springs is warm enough to be a welcome respite in all kinds of weather. While it is one of Iceland’s prime attractions for travelers, you’ll be able to skip the crowds with our private transport.

Witness the Breathtaking Northern Lights

You may have seen the Northern Lights (also known as the Aurora Borealis) in pictures or videos. Spectacular as those photos and videos may be, they don’t do justice to the experience of seeing the lights firsthand. And if you’ve seen the lights in person before, you know it’s a sight that never gets old!

The process behind the Northern Lights is almost as incredible as the lights themselves. It all begins when energized particles from the sun rush into our planet’s upper atmosphere. The particles move incredibly fast, traveling at speeds up to 45 million mph (72 million kph).

As the particles reach the atmosphere, Earth’s magnetic field redirects them toward the North Pole and the South Pole. The particles collide with gas molecules in the atmosphere as they travel, producing countless tiny flashes of light. Together, those flashes create the massive, multi-coloured ribbons of light we see.

Book Your Tour Early On!

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, so we can’t guarantee that we’ll see them on your tour. Our guides will reschedule with you if the forecast indicates that the lights won’t be visible. For that reason, we strongly suggest that you book your tour for your first night in town.
